The Admiral Yi Soon-shin Victory Site Tour is a historical education program where you can visit the historical sites of the Joseon naval forces’ victories and experience the strategy, leadership, and patriotism of Admiral Yi Soon-shin. This trip will provide you with the opportunity to personally experience and learn about the legacy he left behind by visiting the center of the three major naval battles of Admiral Yi Sun-sin: the Battle of Hansando, the Battle of Myeongnyang, and the Battle of Noryang
Battle of Hansando - The Beginning of Sea Domination
The Battle of Hansando was a decisive victory that marked the peak of the Joseon naval morale immediately after the outbreak of the Imjin War. Admiral Yi Soon-shin used a formation called the **Crane Wing Formation** to quickly and accurately surround and destroy the Japanese navy. This victory was a decisive moment that enabled Joseon to protect the sea routes to the South Sea and the West Sea, and had an absolute impact on the subsequent blockade of the Japanese military's supply routes and control of maritime traffic.
Battle of Myeongnyang - Miracle of 12 Ships
During the Imjin War, the Joseon navy was almost in ruins after the great defeat at the Battle of Chilcheollyang, but Admiral Yi Soon-shin reassured the people and the government by saying, "I still have 12 ships," and prepared for battle. The strategy of utilizing the fast currents and narrow straits of Uldolmok was perfect for neutralizing the enemy's large warships. This battle is evaluated as more than just a simple naval battle, but as a symbol of hope in despair and a textbook on strategy
Battle of Noryang - Admiral Yi Soon-shin's last battle
The Battle of Noryang was the last battle of the Imjin War, and Admiral Yi Soon-shin died while repelling the enemy. The battle was a fierce battle between the allied forces of Joseon and Ming and the Japanese army, and Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who commanded the battle line until the last moment, left behind the will, "The battle is urgent, so do not announce my death" before he died. His death was a decisive moment that hastened the end of the war, and he was given the posthumous title of Chungmugong, and is still respected as a national hero in Korea to this day
This tour is a historical experience that reflects on the past, reflects on the present, and prepares for the future.
Admiral Yi Soon-shin's life and battles are not simply war history, but convey to us universal values such as human responsibility,
courage, and dedication to the community.
Each battle site is a 'living textbook' in itself and is considered a spiritual heritage that all mankind must protect.
